I Took The Plunge

I took the plunge and dived right in to make this amazing shawl' Haruni'.
I have had my eye on it for a long time on Ravelry and loved the delicate pattern with the lacy edge. Too complicated I thought..... But hey I can knit and purl and as a bonus it also came with written instructions as I am hopeless with charts. What was to become the Monkey socks has now become this little jewel, and all out of one skein of Morag's delicious yarn with only 15 grams left to spare. Phew was I sweating and measuring after every row. Now I cant wait to cast on another with the blue... Yes I can see it now .....

Lemon Blossom

Noticed that I have lots of lovely lemon blossoms on my tree, it hasn't fruited for about 10 years! I am hoping the frost will not kill it off this year. I will have to protect it better to get through the hard frosts we have here in Nelson.
A lovely jewel was delivered here today from Vintage Purls
'Venetian Jewel' is the name and I can see it being turned into a pair of the Monkey socks
11753 people have chosen to make this on Ravelry and I can see why. It is a very easy lace pattern that makes a change from plain vanilla socks which I have nothing against but it just breaks the boredom!

Just Fallen Off My Needles

Such an easy knit out of 1 ball of acrylic yarn, that I couldn't resist because of the colour. It is the Sunday Morning Shawl. The most tedious part was knitting the ruffle KFB into one stitch 3 times. I didn't count but I am sure I had about 700 stitches on. Phew was I glad to cast off! pleased I did the ruffle though as it looks quite smart. Needed a break from the Chocolate Dream Socks as can only really knit them in the day as it is too dark to see the stitches at night now we have put the clocks back.

Fabulous Fruits Of Autumn.

These fabulous fruits of autumn have just been hand delivered by my good friend Ruth. Fine figs, crunchy chestnuts and glorious grapes. Love this time of year when there is an abundance of lovely fruits and vegs. She also brought me a lovely bunch of silver-beet which with an aubergine (eggplant) I am going to turn into a Cheesy Eggplant Bake.
Looking forward to this evening as Georgia ( GD) is coming to stay over, Josh was coming too but he has changed his mind, he probably wont want to do the market and Garage Sales he would rather do Boy things with his Dad.
Another lovely day here in Nelson not a cloud in the skies.

Yummy Yarn

These two skeins of goodness arrived yesterday from Morag of Vintage Purls. As usual the colours are lovely. Chocolate Dream and French Racing Blue, the blue is very like what I knitted my Gail shawl with last year. I can see it being another shawl or shawlette, colour is too lovely too hide on my feet! The Chocolate is already being knitted up for a pair of plain socks and it looks lovely.
Yesterday went with the G Children to town and Josh chose this wool, I think its a good choice. Its Opal Street Art 2821.
Been busy baking today scones and bread Yum.
The weather today has been glorious so warm......... long may it last!

Lovely Karamea Break

Just spent a lovely long weekend at a most beautiful place........ Karamea the gate way to the Kahurangi National Park. Went with my good friends, they had been there several times so they had a couple of walks lined up. Wasn't sure if I was fit enough but managed quite well really.
First we went to Oparara Arch, the walk takes you through beautiful rainforest and moss covered trees and a very picturesque limestone arch over the river.
Shared our lunch by the river with a very cute and timid Bush Robin (Pic of the river above) the water is really the colour of tea!
Next day something a little more adventurous for me, drove to the start (or end) of the Heaphy Track, and started the walk to Scotts Beach which took us over a lovely swingbridge and up and over the hill with fantastic views of the coast and native bush. Took us 1 hour till we reached the most beautiful beach. Had lunch with the sandflies Ugh! but the scenery was fantastic. The going back was much easier!
