Busy Busy Day

I have been very busy today, changing sheets, making bread, soup, biscuits etc as am having DD and SIL and GChildren staying for 2 nights while they are having new carpet laid. It will be fun as it will be a tight fit but we have done it before, albeit the children were much younger!
What a lovely sunny day after the cold rainy days we have been getting, today was the first real frost.... don't you just love those frosty mornings knowing that there will be a beautiful day
ahead.
I finished my Circular Shrug, a bit tedious to knit but a very clever pattern, in fact I have been wearing it for the last three days haven't even blocked it yet as you can see the sleeves have rolled under. I am looking for some wool to do another as I cant bear to take it off!!! I also finished some fingerless gloves that are lovely and warm. I intend doing some in 4 ply so they will be smaller to wear inside when I am on the computer.
Started some socks last night the pattern is one I have done before River Rapids quite an easy pattern that stretches well to a accommodate a variety of widths, it will be a change from plain ones. The colorway is black green and blues another from Vintage Purls and it is knitting up lovely.
Well off to get a well earned cuppa and biccy.

Yay Another Sock Club..... I'm In!

Woke early in anticipation of the sign up for Morag of Vintage Purls Winter Sock Club. I participated last year and enjoyed the little parcels of wool, treats and patterns through the months of June July and August. These sure helped to brighten up those long winter days and nights! As there are only 50 of these, there were nail biting moments as the site crashed and we were all left wondering if our orders got through. All okay and I am very pleased and excited.
Been busy making 2 loaves of bread and I have put a chicken in the crockpot to make curries later on in the day, I do like having meals in the freezer as the least time spent cooking and more time knitting the better!!!
I finished my Theodora Socks I was very pleased with myself as it was my first time finishing a pair of toe ups. Still really like doing cuff down but who knows .... I am already looking through my
stash to cast on another Theodora but in the meantime I have decided to knit a Circular Shrug a larger project than I am used to. I have heaps of wool I got off Trademe a browny fleck that is knitting up nicely although 6 ins of rib with 240 stitches is no picnic!

Wild Night

Friday night night we had it all ......... torrential rain, winds, thunder , lightening and power cuts. It is still teeming down and what better time to get on with my KAL, Theodora. Finally managed to get the toe thing done after numerous try's of this Turkish Cast On, not good on slippery needles!
Pattern seems to be working out okay but K & P into one stitch 10 times is a bit challenging, the end result looks lovely though. Couldn't find any black 7 mm velvet anywhere yesterday, you wouldn't think it would be so hard to find.

Ditto!

Couldn't resist knitting another one of these lovely shawls. It has turned out just as nice as the Venetian Jewel. This colour is French Racing Blue.
On the Vintage Purls, Ravely Group we are going to be doing a KAL
(Knitalong) which starts May 15th. My first ever and looks like it will be a little challenging or should I say a lot! The name of the sock is Theodora and it has a lacy panel down the front which you can thread some ribbon in, velvet comes to mind. Morag has dyed this colourway 'Empress' especially for the KAL. It is to be knitted toe up which I have only tried once and after a bit of hair pulling decided to frog and go back to my old faithful cuff down....... so time to get out of my comfort zone. I am sure there will be lots of help from Morag and the group.
